Ken Peters, CAIA Portfolio Manager

The transparency and openness of Blueprint is the exception, not the rule, in the world of financial services, and my aim is to build upon our team’s past success to help more financial advisors achieve the investment goals of their clients. Helping clients and advisors understand their portfolios and businesses has been the focus of my career.

Ken is one of those people who is wired to constantly ask, “How can we do this better? Faster? More tax efficiently? With less risk?” This ambition is evident in his vigilance for testing assumptions, analyzing data, and recommending improvements – all ultimately aimed at continuing the Blueprint Investment Partners tradition of being an uncommonly great partner to financial advisors.

As Portfolio Manager, Ken optimizes Blueprint’s systematic investing processes and investment strategies to meet the needs of advisors and their clients. This includes leading the trading function, ensuring each portfolio adheres to the monthly allocation adjustments dictated by the firm’s trend following discipline.

He also supports the firm’s operations and client/prospect service functions by providing robust data and insights into the inner workings of the investment processes, as well as preparing comparisons of Blueprint strategies to other models for inquiring advisors.

Ken’s path to Blueprint Investment Partners began at Charles Schwab, where he helped more than 20 RIA firms with their portfolio management software. One of those firms hired him to manage their back office full time, and during this time, Ken began to study investing. He quickly fell in love with trend following as an investment philosophy because of its simple approach and focus on process as the path to achieving a desired result.

For six years, he worked at Stearns Financial Group, a $1 billion RIA firm. He rose through the ranks to eventually join the Investment Committee and become Head Trader.

Most recently, Ken sharpened his ability to unify large groups of data into actionable insights as Market Research Manager at Bell Partners, an apartment real estate investor and manager of more than 50,000 units.

He earned a Bachelor in Religious Studies from North Carolina State University and a Master in Religion from Vanderbilt University. He is also a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) charterholder.

Ken considers himself lucky to be husband to a brilliant wife and father to three young children, who fill his life with joy, excitement, and lots of energy. He also really enjoys blueberry pancakes.

It's Saturday Night. What Are You Doing?

If I’m not already asleep from a long, wonderful day with my wife and three kids, then I’m having a good laugh with friends or watching a movie
